I started growing lettuce a few months ago when the weather got (unusually) warmer. I had to protect it from the local wildlife because it was the ONLY GREEN thing around for miles and miles. The lettuce made it through and we have been enjoying it for two months now. Fresh lettuce is worth the effort.
I am going to have strawberries this year! That is a statement ..... a statement to all the birds and deer that come against these poor little garden plants. For years I have tried unsuccessfully to grow and harvest strawberries. Some animal always gets to them. NOT THIS YEAR. Check out my new strawberry planter!
And as you can see from the next picture there is still more to do. More planters to build, irrigation to put in and paths to reinforce. I have to admit that I do like the little projects and improvements that go on in the garden. I like getting my hands dirty and building into the landscape. This journey is not wearisome for me and I have a lot of help from my family.
Great ideas for starting seeds, toilet paper tubes and mini green houses out of clear plastic bins.
